One minute you are coordinating the glitz and the glamour at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel at the Farmers Weekly Awards, the next day you might be knee-deep in muddy wellies talking sustainability projects! The day after that? Well, you might be having your own Lord Sugar moment as you help to arrange the farming version of TV's The Apprentice!
To achieve these great things, we need someone thoughtful and practical. You're also really confident speaking to senior industry executives as peers.
Our Event Coordinator opportunity is a flexible role, working 2 days in the office that comes with a salary of up to £30,000 plus some excellent benefits.
The Opportunity
Farmers Weekly manages projects and events in the farming and agricultural space. These range from focused round tables and on-farm practical sessions to numerous multi-faceted projects that involve a sizeable amount of both internal and external shareholder management. Some of our previous live events include Ag Careers Live, Arable Horizons farming lectures, Soils In Practice conference, Farmers Weekly Awards, and Farmers Apprentice week-long boot camp. However due to the pandemic in the last couple of years, our portfolio has pivoted to online webinars and partner projects, but the desire is to go back to face-to-face events.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with editorial, sales, and marketing teams to ensure aims of project/events is met
- Excellent organisational skills and evidence of the ability to meet deadlines whilst managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Adhering to a budget that implements cost-saving measures while consistently monitoring the costs, progress, and quality of a project
- Negotiating with contractors and suppliers for live events and conferences
- Able to work both independently, as well as part of a team to deliver top-level programmes and use market insight to drive growth across the portfolio
- Strong interpersonal, relationship building, and communication skills
- Willingness to work flexible hours and travel within the UK
- At least a year's experience in organising projects or events
