ARABLE REPORTER
Join the award-winning Farmers Weekly team
With nearly 40 years of industry leadership, Mark Allen invites you to join a culture fuelled by passion, creativity, and fairness. We’re committed to nurturing talent and growing our brands, giving you the chance to make a real impact on our continued success. With 550 talented individuals across 7 offices, we’re recruiting an Arable Reporter to join Farmers Weekly in Sutton, Surrey.
This hybrid role allows for a blend of in-office collaboration (three days a week) and remote working flexibility. The starting salary is £30,000 plus company benefits.
Remote working applications will also be considered.
We offer on-the-job training to ensure you feel supported and empowered in your journalism journey.
What We Can Offer You:
- Access to a hugely varied and rewarding role, where no two days are the same, whether you're out interviewing farmers, shooting video, or attending industry events.
- A culture of learning and development, where you'll be supported through continuous professional growth, including training in journalism if needed.
- Empowerment to bring new ideas to life in an environment that values and encourages creative thinking.
- Collaborative networking groups to meet inspiring peers and grow your professional circle while continuously learning and evolving.
And What We Ask in Return:
- A shared belief in our company values of being passionate, creative, fair, and nurturing. If you embody these traits, you’ll fit right in.
- You don’t need to be a trained journalist – we can teach you that. The most important thing is you bring a love of agriculture, a good understanding of arable farming, and a desire to support growers by writing about the latest industry developments and technical advice.
- You are a natural communicator and networker with strong interpersonal skills.
- You have a passion for fostering a positive, collaborative culture where we support one another to excel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generating original, high-quality content for Farmers Weekly, in print and online.
- Taking photographs, producing videos, recording podcast clips, and using social media to engage our audience.
- Developing and managing industry contacts.
- Representing Farmers Weekly at events, conferences, and on-farm interviews.
Key Requirements:
- Ability to write accurate, informative, and engaging content to deadlines.
- An interest or background in crop production and/or agriculture.
- Strong time management, organisation, and communication skills.
- Interest in digital content creation and social media.
- Full driving licence.
A Few Key Points:
- Diversity & Inclusion: We celebrate diverse backgrounds and perspectives; they make us stronger. If you’re excited about this role, apply even if your experience doesn’t align perfectly. If not this one, you could be just the right fit for other roles we are recruiting for.
