There is always a positive atmosphere when I step into the Herne Hill office. People at Mark Allen make it a lively and enriching place to work and grow! Everyone is ready and willing to help and offer support in professional and personal matters. Opportunities to try new things are endless at Mark Allen, and that is what stood out to me. I have worked on the Classical Music magazine, Community Care titles and with the conference production team to learn from different departments and hone new skills. Every person I met along the way was kind enough to take me under their wing and support me in my learning journey.

It’s the people that make Mark Allen a great place to work! I’m part of a close-knit team that really cares about each other and about making a real impact in our sector. We work as a team to solve problems and take time to recognise and celebrate successes, big or small. The Mark Allen summer parties are always a highlight! They are good fun, but also a chance for Mark Allen to celebrate employee achievements. Our annual team volunteer days are also fun and bring everyone together in a meaningful way. While not every day is a party, I genuinely feel supported in my role, which in turn makes it easy for me to pass on that support to those I work with.

Managers, department directors and other influential people within Mark Allen are always open to new ideas. They will listen to you and encourage you to bring those ideas to life, regardless of your level of experience. The Group is so big and diverse that there’s always something exciting going on, which is great for developing your entrepreneurial skills. I have been given the opportunity to write and edit in my second language (English), Received the green light to launch a journal on my own (JWC LATAM) and been made head of a department I helped build from scratch (Projects, MA Healthcare).

Mark Allen is a welcoming, and supportive organisation throughout. Offering substantial expertise within the various teams and a will to share knowledge helping others excel in their careers. We also offer a variety of internal events for learning and socialising which bring the whole company together from the various offices. The stand out for me is the flexibility and approachability of all teams, whether that be sales, operations, management, and HR. Also, the support from HR is fantastic, whether that be arranging learning and development opportunities via Go1 platform, offering support to individuals or benefits via the various platforms/schemes or arranging events such as the company Summer Party.

Having been at Mark Allen for over ten years, what I love most about the company is the great dynamic and trust-based work culture. Employees are given a great deal of autonomy in carrying out their role and the chance to be involved in many aspects of the business.

I believe that the key ingredient to the success of the Mark Allen is the people. We have a group of multi-talented individuals who specialise in their area of expertise and want to deliver as well as they can to contribute to the overall success of the business. For grads, Mark Allen gives a really good start for a career in marketing. I'm exposed to everything I want to be, and curiosity is encouraged. The Farmers Weekly team are a great bunch to work with too, which helps. I'm 22, been in marketing for under two years, and already a mentor for someone else coming into the industry. It's a rewarding experience and demonstrates how trusting and encouraging our team is.

Working for the Mark Allen has provided me with more than just a job, it has given me a career. Despite being a large company, we remain a family-run business where I truly feel that my voice is heard and my ideas are valued. I’m also supported by a team of experts who are always there to guide and develop me. My area of the business is exhibitions, an exciting sector in its own right, but even more so at MA Exhibitions due to the incredible variety of events we deliver.
